You are…

Oof. You just got new business but not enough to scale up and add a full-time copywriter. Or perhaps your writer left before you could fill their vacancy, is on vacation, or on parental leave. A freelancer is the perfect option to fill the gap—but they need to be someone you can rely on and who can onboard quickly. Someone whose work you trust will always be high-quality and delivered on deadline. You don’t have time (or frankly, energy) for a lot of interviews or coaching.
How I can help:
Before I freelanced, I made my way from copywriter to copy supervisor at Razorfish Health. I know the quirks and qualms of the agency world. I also worked closely with strategic brand planners, user experience designers, graphic designers, developers, and data analysts. Learning from those disciplines has made my writing holistic and my recommendations strategic. I enjoy collaborating and “being in the weeds” of the work. Part of the reason I left full-time employment was that hitting a higher pay-grade meant more managing and less doing. I’m a doer. A doer who does it on time.

You believe the traditional agency model needs transformation. So you’re out there, finding your own clients, and pulling together nimble teams to help execute deliverables. Similar to the Creative Director who needs fill-in copy support, you need a copy resource you can rely on. You don’t have time to babysit. You need someone who can work collaboratively with your other disciplines (often, remotely)—someone who is dependable and consistently delivers work that’s deliberate and delights.
How I can help:
I worked with all sorts of disciplines during my 6+ years as a Copywriter > Senior Copywriter > Copy Supervisor at Razorfish Health, but most closely with graphic designers and user experience architects. There were no silos. We were a team. I learned their language and helped translate mine. This lead to incredible collaboration, which created incredible work. It’s what makes me good at what I do—my recommendations are influenced by a holistic view and I’m always open to different approaches (and learning something new).

You’re doing it all and the C-Suite needs to see results. You want good KPIs that prove there’s an ROI. The better the results, the more likely you’ll get that raise/recognition/promotion/impressive new bullet on your resume. You don’t have the budget for a full-time copywriter, but you know having copy support could increase your success.
How I can help:
As a freelancer, you don’t have to pay for anything but my time. So you can hire me for a project or for ongoing support. Also, this will be my millionth rodeo. Part of my charm is I’m used to working on all different types of brands that need all sorts of solutions. I’m adept at quickly onboarding, taking on the brand voice, and executing not just great writing—but strategic storytelling—across all sorts of mediums.

“If I only had one copywriter to work with the rest of my career, it would be kristen.”
— Kirsten Greskiewicz, Creative Director + Designer
Sometimes I get a blank stare after I tell people what I do.
SO, WHAT IS A COPYWRITER?
Copywriters are both thinkers and artists. They are strategic storytellers. They use words to connect problem-solvers to problem-havers. They can’t trademark your business name (copyright-ers) and they won’t fix your grammatical mistakes (copy editors), but they do know the rules well enough to break them. They take language and make it into a tool: to move, to empower, to excite. They are big picture thinkers who carry the story through every small detail. They know the difference a “!” or a “.” can make. They are collaborators first, word workers second. They learn from you, learn about the people you serve, and build the bridge that helps your two worlds meet. They are alchemists, allies, truth-tellers, and empaths. They’re your partner—the partner who takes on your passion and moves your audience to action.
